Safety leadership in the North Sea isn't a clipboard job. It's the role that decides whether a contract runs clean or runs into trouble, onshore and off.

This is the senior seat. Focal point for HSE across the contract, deputy to the HSE Manager when needed, and the person operations leans on to move both leading and lagging indicators in the right direction.

The role at a glance

Aberdeen-based, reporting to the HSE Manager AS West, supporting offshore and onshore teams across the contract. You'd lead HSE campaigns, chair ORAs where needed, run audits and incident investigations, and supervise medics and offshore HSE advisors. Regular site visits come with it. This is hands-on, not desk-bound.

What you'd own

• Focal point for contract HSE matters, onshore and offshore, with the authority to set tactical direction
• Audits, reviews, active monitoring, and incident investigations, plus timely closure of Synergi actions
• HSE objectives and targets built in line with company strategy, anchored to ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001
• Reports and statistics for internal, external, and client reporting
• Coaching and mentoring across the HSE team, including offshore advisors and medics

That spread is the tell. The role runs from boots-on-deck site visits to client-facing reporting to developing the people under you. They want a leader who's credible in a control room and in a client meeting on the same day.

What it takes

A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, listed as preferred. Deep offshore HSE experience, solid command of the UKCS regulatory regime, and a track record of frequent site visits over real time. Significant onshore HSE advisor experience too. Add the soft side: influencing skills, the nerve to challenge norms, and the judgment to work with minimal supervision.

The real buy? Someone who already knows the North Sea regime cold. This isn't a role you parachute into from another region. UKCS fluency is the gate.

Straight talk before you apply

• About the branding. The posting shows CB&I Asset Solutions up top but Petrofac systems and a Petrofac apply portal in the body. That's not a red flag. CB&I bought Petrofac's Asset Solutions business out of administration, and the deal closed in April 2026. The Aberdeen operation is now CB&I Asset Solutions, and the legacy Petrofac references are leftovers from a transition that's only months old. The portal is legitimate. Apply with confidence.
• The NEBOSH Diploma is preferred, not required. If you hold the Certificate plus strong offshore experience, don't rule yourself out. The wording leaves the door open, so walk through it.
• No salary range in the posting. Ask early, and ask for the package, not just base. Aberdeen offshore-support HSE roles vary widely by contract and rotation expectations.
• Confirm the work pattern. The company boilerplate mentions a hybrid office expectation, but the role itself calls for regular offshore and onshore site visits. Get clarity on the actual split before you accept anything.
